AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY | CRISIS as a "PRODUCTIVE STATE"

Everything is changing. The combustion engine is going - but the question is when. Electromobility is struggling to ramp up. The targets of 15 million e-cars in 2030 and an additional one million charging points in Germany will be missed by a wide margin. Especially if current subsidies for commercial and private purchases are phased out or reduced. Subsidies have always been a shaky basis for sustainable business.

However, the uncertain framework conditions of a globalized value chain remain and are reflected in rising inflation, among other things. A lack of purchasing power leads to a lack of demand for years to come.

As a result, the (e-)engine of the German car industry is stuttering and, to put it bluntly, is heading for a crisis or fiasco. In contrast, Chinese manufacturers have seized the opportunity and are increasingly pushing into the European market. Some are already talking about a turning point.

So what should we do? "Crisis is a productive state. You just have to take away the taste of catastrophe."  Max Frisch objectifies the concept of crisis and gives it a chance to take a positive turn by describing it as a "productive state". At INNO&, we have internalized this view.

Our clients often have a variety of questions:

  • How can we overcome the crisis, improve the earnings situation in the short term and position the company for the future even under unfavorable location conditions?
  • Which strategic partnerships and joint ventures will bring me forward again?
  • Which product/service can I develop in a maximum of three years, for example, in order to secure additional profits? Which products should we put on EXIT now?
  • What adaptations to local market requirements or tailoring to customer segments do I need?
  • Which production process or automation also in new combinations - will give me a short-term cost advantage?
  • Is my production, logistics and development network correctly balanced?
  • What potential does the supplier market offer me in terms of new procurement sources?

At INNO&, we rely on the triad of innovation, organization and transformation. Our proven DESIGN2VALUE approach with experts from a wide range of disciplines inspires and complements cost-cutting offensives in your company at product level. Companies in distress, on the other hand, need a stringent and consistent realignment & turnaround: But how?  Our approach at INNO&
